JPPSS Educators Named Finalist for Louisiana Teacher and Principal of the Year

Geraldine Boudreaux Elementary 3rd grade teacher Pablo M. M. Pato (left) and Leo Kerner, Jr. Elementary Principal Suzanne Bordlee have been named finalists for Louisiana Teacher and Principal of the Year, respectively.

Two Jefferson Parish Public School System (JPPSS) educators have been named finalists for Teacher and Principal of the Year by the Louisiana Department of Education.

Leo Kerner, Jr. Elementary Principal Suzanne Bordlee is one of nine finalists for the 2016 Principal of the Year. Geraldine Boudreaux Elementary 3rd grade teacher Pablo M. M. Pato is one of nine finalists for 2016 Teacher of the Year.

Click here for a full list of the state’s finalists and semifinalists. Each honoree will be celebrated at the 9th Annual Cecil. J. Picard Educator Excellence Symposium and Celebration on Saturday, July 11 at the Crowne Plaza Executive Center in Baton Rouge.

Bordlee has served as Kerner’s principal for the past four years. She holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from the University of New Orleans. She was previously an assistant principal at Janet Elementary and a teacher at Hart Elementary.

Pato has been a veteran of the classroom for 10 years and currently teaches science, social studies, math, and Spanish at Boudreaux. He holds a master’s degree – title of Maestro with specialization in foreign language from the University of Oviedo, Spain.
