Two Jefferson Parish Public School System schools were acknowledged during the 2011 TAP Summer Institute in Baton Rouge for improved student scores and high quality professional development.  More than 100 schools from across the state attended the conference.

Hazel Park Elementary in River Ridge and William Hart Elementary in Gretna were both recognized by the School-Wide Value Added Score of 5 Award for achieving school-wide value added scores of 5 in 2009-2010.  The value-added score of 5 indicates that the students in the school demonstrated significantly more than a year’s academic growth during the 2009-2010 school year.

William Hart Elementary received a second award – the Louisiana TAP Cluster Implementation Award.  This award is presented to a school that demonstrates consistently strong and effective cluster group meetings focused on student needs, as determined by an analysis of student data and student work.

TAP is the Teacher Advancement Program – – a national teacher development program that gives teachers opportunities to learn better teaching strategies.
